Augusta Planning Commission to review draft data center ordinance as public feedback continues

Augusta, GA – The City of Augusta is continuing its review of a proposed data center ordinance, with the draft scheduled to be presented to the Planning Commission as part of the public review process.

The meeting is set for Monday, July 6, at 3 p.m. in Room 291 on the second floor of the Municipal Building, located at 535 Telfair Street.

City officials are encouraging residents, property owners, business owners and other community stakeholders to attend the meeting, learn more about the proposed ordinance and remain engaged as the review process continues.

According to the city, the draft ordinance has not been approved or finalized. Officials emphasized that community feedback remains an important part of the process and encouraged residents to submit comments through the city’s official online feedback form to ensure their input is included in the review.

The city also acknowledged ongoing discussions about the proposal on social media, noting that while officials appreciate the public conversation, comments submitted through the official feedback process will become part of the formal review.

Residents who are unable to attend the July 6 meeting will have additional opportunities to participate. Public meetings are also scheduled for July 14 and July 21 as Augusta continues evaluating the proposed data center ordinance before any final action is considered.
