Augusta Fire Department receives fire extinguisher simulator to expand community fire safety training

Augusta, GA – The Augusta Fire Department has announced a new partnership that will bring technology-based fire safety training to businesses, organizations and residents throughout the community.

According to the department, the fire extinguisher simulator was obtained through a collaboration with Augusta Industrial Services and Aurubis. The simulator is designed to provide realistic, hands-on training by allowing participants to practice responding to simulated fire emergencies in a safe environment.

Fire officials said the technology will be used to educate local businesses and organizations on proper fire extinguisher use while reinforcing fire prevention practices and workplace safety standards.

“The best way to ensure safety is to prepare for the unexpected,” the department said while announcing the addition of the new training tool.

Augusta Fire Chief Antonio Burden said the partnership reflects the department’s commitment to improving public safety through education and collaboration with local industry.

“The Augusta Fire Department acknowledges the impact and lasting effects of our partnership with Aurubis and Augusta Industrial Services; we are accountable for supporting education and enforcing safety amongst our community and the industries surrounding our city limits,” Burden said.

The department said the simulator will allow firefighters to conduct interactive training sessions that help participants build confidence and improve their response to potential fire emergencies without the risks associated with live-fire exercises.

Officials expect the new training technology to strengthen fire safety awareness across Augusta while continuing the department’s efforts to promote prevention, preparedness and community education.
