Pedestrian Dies in Early Morning Hit-and-Run on Deans Bridge Road
AUGUSTA, Ga. — A 23-year-old pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run early Sunday morning on Deans Bridge Road, authorities confirmed.
Xavion Wimberly, a resident of Hephzibah, was attempting to cross Deans Bridge Road near Suz Lounge at approximately 3 a.m. when he was struck by a vehicle.
Investigators located the vehicle and driver about half a mile from the scene shortly after the incident. The driver is currently under investigation.
An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the official cause of death.
Officials continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
