Burke County Woman Arrested in Fatal Shooting of Telvin Osborne

WAYNESBORO, Ga. — Authorities have confirmed that a shooting that claimed the life of 30-year-old Telvin Osborne was not accidental, and a suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident. The fatal shooting occurred early Sunday morning in Keysville, Georgia, and the Burke County Sheriff’s Office has since charged a local woman with felony involuntary manslaughter.

Sheriff Alfonzo Williams provided an update during a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, revealing new details surrounding the shooting. According to Williams, the shooting followed an altercation between Osborne and the suspect, 25-year-old Hannah Cobb. Both individuals had been drinking at the time, and an argument escalated before the gunshot was fired.

At approximately 5:45 a.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a report of a shooting on the 800 block of 4 Points Road. Upon arrival, investigators discovered Osborne in the master bedroom of the residence with a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite efforts to save him, Osborne was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital.

Hannah Cobb was arrested on Tuesday and charged with felony involuntary manslaughter. She was booked into the Burke County Jail, where she remains in custody as of Tuesday afternoon. Cobb’s arrest came after a public outcry from the community and social media, as many questioned why there had been no immediate action taken following the shooting.

The incident has raised concerns in the community, and law enforcement officials continue to investigate the events leading up to the fatal altercation. Sheriff Williams emphasized that while both parties had been drinking, the shooting was not a random act of violence, but rather the result of a confrontation that turned deadly.

As the investigation unfolds, Cobb is expected to face legal proceedings for her role in Osborne’s death.
