81-Year-Old Woman with Dementia Found Safe in Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. — An 81-year-old woman who had been reported missing earlier in the day has been safely located, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said Mary Antley, who suffers from dementia, walked away from her home at approximately 4 p.m. on Friday. Authorities began searching for her around 5:42 p.m. in the area of Hopkins Street.

At approximately 6:04 p.m., the sheriff’s office confirmed that Antley had been found and was returned home safely.

Sheriff Brantley expressed gratitude in a statement, thanking both the community and law enforcement personnel for their efforts in ensuring Antley’s safe return.

“We are incredibly thankful for the quick response from our deputies and the support of the community,” the sheriff said in a Facebook post.
