Suspect Arrested Following Officer-Involved Shooting in Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. – A man who was injured in an officer-involved shooting earlier this month has been released from the hospital and taken into custody. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office announced on Monday that 31-year-old Brandon Hill was arrested on a range of serious charges, following his involvement in a confrontation with law enforcement on March 13.

Hill, who was shot during the incident on Glenn Hills Drive, was transported to a local hospital for treatment before being taken into custody upon his release. The arrest comes after a thorough investigation by the sheriff’s office and law enforcement agencies.

Hill faces multiple charges, including:

  • Aggravated Assault Upon a Police Officer

  • Possession of Firearm During Commission of a Crime

  • Possession of Firearm by a Convicted Felon

  • Two counts of Superior Court Order to Show Cause

  • Two counts of State Court Bench Warrant

Authorities have not released detailed information about the circumstances leading to the officer-involved shooting. However, the charges against Hill suggest that the confrontation involved significant threats to law enforcement officers.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the incident, and Hill’s legal proceedings are expected to follow in the coming weeks. The case underscores the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement when dealing with armed suspects and the potential for violence in high-stress situations.
