Boy Injured in Shooting on Cornell Drive in Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. – A juvenile boy was injured in a shooting Sunday night in Augusta, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded to the 1800 block of Cornell Drive at approximately 10:37 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found a male juvenile who had sustained gunshot wounds to his lower body. The victim was promptly transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. At this time, his condition has not been disclosed.

Authorities have stated that the investigation is still in its early stages, and further details regarding the incident are not yet available. No suspects have been named, and law enforcement is continuing to gather information.

This shooting adds to a growing trend of violent crime in the region. Over the past three years, nearly 200 lives have been lost across the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA), with both large cities and smaller communities being impacted by the wave of violence. Augusta, being the largest city in the area, has been especially affected by the uptick in criminal activity.

As the investigation unfolds, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has urged anyone with information to come forward to help resolve the case and bring an end to the violence that continues to plague the area.
