Woman Arrested for DUI Near Gate 5 During Masters Tournament

AUGUSTA, Ga. – A woman was arrested for driving under the influence near Gate 5 on Washington Road on Tuesday, April 8, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Julie T. Dicks, 35, was allegedly observed traveling in the center turn lane on Washington Road, using it to bypass traffic. A deputy with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) noticed the suspicious driving behavior and initiated a traffic stop.

According to an RCSO statement, Dicks immediately turned into Gate 5 off Washington Road, located near Old Berckmans Road. However, she quickly encountered a dead-end and was taken into custody without resistance.

The statement further revealed that Dicks had been previously arrested for DUI earlier this year, on February 17, 2025. Despite the arrest, RCSO emphasized that no members of the public or patrons were at risk during the incident.

“The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office works in close partnership with Augusta National Security to ensure the safety of all patrons during the Masters Tournament,” the statement read.

Dicks was transported to the Charles B. Webster Detention Center following her arrest. The incident has not been reported to have caused any disruptions at the Masters Tournament.
