Warren County High School Teacher Arrested on Terroristic Threats Charge

Warren County, GA –  A 22-year-old agriculture teacher from Warren County High School was arrested and charged with felony Terroristic Threats and Acts after allegedly making threatening remarks toward staff and students. The incident occurred on April 24, 2025, and led to an investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

According to authorities, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer became aware of the threats and requested the GBI’s involvement. The investigation revealed that Mason Garrett, a first-year teacher at the school, made verbal threats to shoot both staff members and students. Following these revelations, Garrett was arrested on April 29, 2025, and booked into the McDuffie County Jail, though he was later released.

The Warren County School District responded quickly to the situation. In an official statement, the district confirmed that they were informed about Garrett’s comments on the evening of April 24, which had been made during one of his classes earlier that day. The district took immediate action by placing Garrett on administrative leave and relieving him of his teaching duties while the matter was investigated. The investigation also determined that Garrett’s threats included a specific reference to his supervisor, prompting the district to refer the case to law enforcement.

In light of the seriousness of the allegations, the school district emphasized its commitment to cooperating fully with law enforcement during the ongoing investigation.

“The District remains fully dedicated to ensuring the safety of all students and staff members,” the statement read. “We are working closely with law enforcement to support their investigation and will take further appropriate actions as necessary.”

Garrett’s arrest and the ongoing investigation have raised concerns about safety within the educational environment, prompting the district to emphasize its zero-tolerance policy for any threats of violence. The outcome of the investigation remains pending as the GBI continues to review the details of the case.

As the investigation unfolds, the community watches closely, hoping for clarity and resolution in what has been a troubling incident for both the school district and the residents of Warren County.
