DAVISBORO, GA — Authorities in Washington County arrested three individuals late on the night of March 7, 2025, after they attempted to use a drone to smuggle contraband into Washington State Prison.

Deputies were dispatched to West Brown Drive in Davisboro around 11:48 PM after receiving reports of several suspicious individuals in the area. Additional units quickly responded and initiated an investigation, which soon revealed that the suspects were attempting to make a prison drop.

During the investigation, deputies recovered a drone, a drone controller connected to a cellphone, and several drawstring bags containing suspected contraband. The items included marijuana, tobacco, and Promethazine, a Schedule V controlled substance. The contraband was intended for delivery to inmates at the nearby Washington State Prison.

Three suspects were arrested at the scene:

  • Emmarrion Murray, 20, of Jonesboro, GA
  • Serpico Evans, 27, of East Point, GA
  • Alfonso Horton, 23, of Forest Park, GA

The individuals face multiple felony charges, including:

  • Trading with Inmates
  • Conspiracy to Commit a Felony
  • Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute
  • Possession of a Schedule V Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute

Evans was additionally charged with Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.

This marks the fourth prison drop attempt in Washington County since the start of 2025, underscoring the persistent issue of smuggling contraband into correctional facilities. In 2024, 16 individuals were arrested for similar offenses.

The incident highlights the ongoing challenges law enforcement faces in combatting the use of drones for illegal activities, particularly in relation to prisons. Washington County authorities have not yet released further details on the investigation or whether additional suspects are being sought.
