Third Suspect Arrested in Fatal Shooting of 16-Year-Old in Wrens, GA

WRENS, Ga. — Authorities have apprehended a third suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Sadiq Brown, which occurred on July 5, 2024, in Wrens, Georgia.

On May 29, 2025, 18-year-old Kieran Darnell Walters was taken into custody by members of the U.S. Marshals Joint Task Force in Gwinnett County. Walters was wanted on murder charges related to the shooting that took place in the parking lot of 2622 Peach Orchard Road.

This arrest follows the previous detainment of two other suspects, Deondray Donovan and Malcolm Bryant. Donovan was arrested on January 23, 2025, while Bryant was taken into custody on August 20, 2024. Both men face charges of murder and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a crime.

According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a local hospital around 10:55 p.m. on the night of July 5, 2024, after Sadiq Brown was transported there with at least one gunshot wound. Brown was pronounced dead at 11:34 p.m. at Piedmont Hospital.

Sheriff Brantley praised the collaboration between agencies involved in the investigation, saying, “The arrest of both suspects in this tragic case demonstrates our commitment to pursuing justice for victims and their families. I am proud of our investigators and grateful to the U.S. Marshals Service for their partnership in locating and arresting dangerous fugitives.”

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
