AUGUSTA, GA — A shooting early Saturday morning in Augusta has left one man dead and another injured, according to the Richmond County Coroner’s Office.

The shooting occurred around 5 a.m. on the 1900 block of Higdon Street. Authorities responded to the scene where they found 30-year-old Davonta Lamar McCloud of Augusta suffering from at least one gunshot wound inside his residence. McCloud was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:07 a.m.

A second victim, identified as 31-year-old Omar Ikea Andrews, also of Augusta, was found at the residence with non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

An autopsy for McCloud has been scheduled, and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has stated that the investigation is ongoing. No further details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting have been released at this time.

The incident has raised concerns in the local community as authorities continue to gather information and work toward determining the cause of the shooting.
