Savannah Man Brutally Beaten in Home Invasion by Suspects Posing as Amazon Workers

SAVANNAH, Ga. — A violent home invasion unfolded in Savannah on Saturday morning when a 66-year-old man was brutally attacked by two suspects pretending to be Amazon delivery workers. The assault, which occurred at approximately 8:00 a.m., has left the community shocked and local authorities searching for the perpetrators.

George “Dirk” Hardison, who resides on Price Street, opened his front door expecting to receive a package, but instead encountered two men dressed in Amazon-branded jackets and carrying a package. The suspects, who had their faces concealed, immediately forced their way inside the home. Once inside, they demanded money from Hardison before assaulting him with a sledgehammer.

The violent attack lasted for about eight minutes, during which Hardison was struck repeatedly, leaving him with severe head injuries. The assailants eventually fled the scene with just $80 in cash, taking the same package they had brought with them. Security footage captured the two men as they exited the home and fled the area.

Neighbors who heard Hardison’s cries for help arrived at the scene to find him covered in blood and suffering from multiple head wounds. Hardison was rushed to the hospital, where doctors treated him for significant injuries, including 14 staples to his head.

The suspects, described by police as two young black males in their 20s with medium brown complexions, remain at large. The Savannah Police Department is actively investigating the incident and has issued warrants for the suspects’ arrest. Charges of aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and home invasion are expected to be filed against the men.

In the wake of the attack, Hardison’s friends and colleagues have rallied to support him. A GoFundMe page set up by O’Connell’s Pub, where Hardison works, has raised over $4,500 to help with his medical bills and recovery. The community has also expressed its outrage over the crime, with many taking to social media to show solidarity and offer assistance.

As the investigation continues, Savannah residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities. The police are asking anyone with information about the suspects or the incident to come forward as they work to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Hardison, still recovering in the hospital, has not yet been able to comment on the attack, but his friends and supporters remain hopeful that the suspects will soon be caught.
