Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Invites Community to Submit Crime Tips Anonymously
AUGUSTA, Ga. — The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging residents to play an active role in crime prevention by submitting tips about illegal activity through two new online forms.
The Confidential Crime Tip and Drug Tip forms are available on the Sheriff’s Office website, offering community members a user-friendly way to provide information that could help solve crimes. Those submitting tips have the option to remain anonymous.
Captain Danny Whitehead of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office explained the importance of community involvement in law enforcement efforts. “It’s been proven that crime prevention is more effective when the police and the community work together,” Whitehead said. “By having these forums on our website or through social media, people can choose to remain anonymous and still provide valuable information.”
The submitted forms are reviewed daily, Monday through Friday, by the Sheriff’s Office intelligence division. According to Whitehead, this specialized team carefully examines each tip and forwards relevant information to the appropriate units for follow-up investigations.
Whitehead encourages anyone with knowledge of criminal activity to provide as much detail as possible. “They can put as much information as they would like or that they have knowledge of,” he said.
For those who prefer to report information by phone, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office can be reached at 706-821-1000.
