Police Chase in Thomson, Ga. Ends After Homicide Suspect Attempts to Flee Authorities

THOMSON, Ga. – A dramatic police chase unfolded in Thomson, Georgia, after authorities attempted to serve a search warrant related to the ongoing investigation into the homicide of 42-year-old Mario Clemons. The investigation, spearheaded by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and the McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office, led officers to a residence believed to be associated with the primary suspect, Devicco LaTroy Moss, also known as Troy.

According to Pat Morgan, a GBI Special Agent, the warrant was issued as part of a continued effort to resolve the homicide case dating back to April 13. Authorities had gathered sufficient evidence during the investigation, prompting them to search Moss’s home.

However, when officers arrived to execute the warrant, Moss fled the scene in a truck, initiating a high-speed pursuit. Multiple law enforcement agencies, including local and state officers, joined the chase in an attempt to apprehend the suspect.

The situation took a dangerous turn when a Motor Carrier Compliance Division Officer’s truck overturned during the pursuit. Fortunately, officials later confirmed that the officer was not injured in the incident, though the dramatic crash underscored the high-risk nature of the chase.

As of now, law enforcement agencies have yet to release further details regarding Moss’s whereabouts or whether he was eventually captured. The investigation into the homicide of Mario Clemons continues, and authorities are urging anyone with information about Moss’s location to come forward.

The event highlights the ongoing efforts of local, state, and federal agencies to solve violent crime cases, with public safety remaining a top priority despite the inherent dangers in such high-stakes operations.
