AUGUSTA, Ga. – A tragic accident on Sunday night resulted in the death of a pedestrian after being struck by a vehicle on US 1 in Aiken County.

The incident occurred around 7:18 p.m. near Bogeyville Road, when a woman, who was walking south on the highway, was hit by a 2021 Chevrolet Camaro. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Aiken County Coroner’s Office, the driver of the Camaro was not injured in the collision.

Emergency responders transported the woman to Aiken Regional Medical Centers, where she later died from her injuries at 8:35 p.m., approximately an hour after the crash. Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables confirmed the woman’s death but did not release her identity at this time.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident, and the name of the victim will be disclosed once next of kin are notified.
