Murder-Suicide Investigation Underway in Augusta, Georgia

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a tragic murder-suicide that resulted in the deaths of a married couple Tuesday morning.

At approximately 11:48 a.m., deputies responded to a call reporting two deceased individuals at a residence located on the 2600 block of Springwood Drive. Upon arrival, authorities discovered the bodies of Christopher Crowder, 77, and Juanita Crowder, 72. Both individuals were found with gunshot wounds to the head.

Investigators have confirmed that the incident appears to be a murder-suicide, with Christopher Crowder identified as the suspect and Juanita Crowder as the victim. According to the initial investigation, Juanita Crowder was found inside the home, while Christopher Crowder was located nearby.

Authorities have scheduled autopsies for both individuals to determine the exact circumstances surrounding their deaths. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has stated that further details will be released once the investigation progresses.

The case has left the local community in shock, as the Crowders were well-known in the area. Neighbors expressed their condolences, but many are still struggling to understand the tragic turn of events.
