Man Found Dead at Homeless Camp in Augusta

Augusta, GA – A man was found dead Tuesday afternoon at a homeless camp in Augusta, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded to the 1300 block of Greene Street around 3:20 p.m. following reports of a possible deceased individual.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered the body of a male at a homeless camp located in a wooded area. Paramedics were called to the scene, and the coroner’s office was notified shortly after.

The coroner’s office later confirmed the death occurred under the Calhoun Bridge, and stated the man had likely been deceased for several days. A positive identification has been made, but authorities have not released the name of the individual until next of kin are notified.
