Georgia Power Offers Assistance and Tools to Help Customers Manage Energy Costs

Augusta, Ga. — As the new year begins, Georgia Power is offering programs designed to help eligible customers struggling with their energy bills. With rising costs impacting many households, the company is providing resources to ensure that its customers have the tools and support they need to manage their energy consumption.

Stephen King, a representative of Georgia Power, highlighted the company’s “My Power Usage” tool as an essential resource for customers looking to take control of their energy usage. The tool allows users to track their daily energy consumption, set alerts for when usage exceeds specific thresholds, and project their upcoming bills. According to King, this level of insight enables customers to better understand how their routines and energy practices impact their bills, offering them the opportunity to make informed adjustments.

In addition to the My Power Usage tool, Georgia Power offers two key programs aimed at assisting low-income households: the Energy Assistance for Saving and Efficiency (EASE) program and the Income Qualified program. The EASE program provides qualifying customers with free home energy upgrades, helping to improve energy efficiency and reduce overall energy costs. Meanwhile, the Income Qualified program offers monthly bill credits to customers who meet specific income eligibility criteria, helping to ease the financial burden of rising energy costs.

“Both of these programs are designed to give our customers the support they need to manage their energy bills,” King said. “We want to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to improve their energy efficiency, and that no one is left behind due to financial hardship.”

Beyond these programs, Georgia Power has also formed partnerships with various local and state organizations that provide additional assistance with utility bills, food, shelter, and counseling services. These collaborations help to address broader needs in the community, ensuring that people have access to essential services during challenging times.

King emphasized the importance of educating customers on how small changes in their daily habits can have a significant impact on their energy usage and costs. He suggested practical steps such as optimizing heating efficiency, checking insulation, adjusting thermostats, and using natural heat when possible to reduce energy consumption.

“We know that affordability, assistance, and efficiency are top concerns for our customers,” King said. “That’s why we’ve put these programs in place—to make sure our customers are empowered to manage their energy use and save money in the process.”

With these initiatives, Georgia Power is demonstrating its commitment to helping customers not only navigate the complexities of their energy bills but also take proactive steps toward greater energy efficiency and cost savings.
