Five Arrested After Shooting in Augusta’s Harrisburg Neighborhood
Augusta, GA — Five individuals are currently in police custody following a shooting that took place Sunday evening in Augusta’s Harrisburg neighborhood. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. and involved teenagers, according to officials.
Lt. Lewis Blanchard, Chief of Staff for the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, confirmed to NewsChannel 6 that the situation is now under control. Two victims were transported to the hospital for treatment, though their conditions have not been disclosed.
In response to the shooting, additional deputies have been deployed to patrol the Harrisburg area throughout the evening to help maintain order and prevent further incidents.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is also assisting Richmond County authorities with the ongoing investigation.
Officials have not yet released details about the motive or the identities of those involved. More information is expected as the investigation continues.
