Child Dies in Two-Vehicle Crash in Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. — A tragic accident claimed the life of a child following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Peach Orchard Road and Tobacco Road on Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 1 p.m. when the first vehicle, carrying two adults and a child, was traveling southbound on Peach Orchard Road. According to investigators, the vehicle collided with a second vehicle that was traveling northbound at the intersection with Tobacco Road.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, transporting the occupants of the first vehicle to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. Unfortunately, despite efforts to save the child, the young passenger later succumbed to their injuries.

Authorities have not released the identities of the individuals involved, and the investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing. The Augusta Traffic Division is leading the investigation into the incident.

As the community processes the devastating loss, officials are urging anyone with additional information to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
