Carroll County Teen Arrested After Allegedly Plotting Murder at Local High Schools

CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — A 17-year-old student from Mount Zion High School (MZHS) has been arrested and charged with serious criminal offenses after allegedly making threats against students at both MZHS and Central High School. The arrest followed a swift investigation that uncovered a chilling murder plot, sparking concerns for student safety across the district.

On February 7, school administrators were alerted to a potential threat made by Dylan Gable, a student at MZHS. In response, Carroll County School Resource Officers, along with school administrators, immediately launched an investigation. Authorities quickly uncovered a disturbing series of conversations between Gable and two juveniles, which detailed a plan to carry out a murder outside of school grounds.

Investigators learned that the plot had been orchestrated by Gable, who had been recruited by his middle school girlfriend to carry out the plan. The motive behind the plot, however, did not directly involve Gable’s girlfriend, but instead stemmed from a personal vendetta involving another student. According to Carroll County Sheriff’s Public Information Officer Ashley Hulsey, a teenage girl had been seeking revenge on a male student who had previously rejected her. Gable became involved in the scheme, contributing to the discussions on how to execute the murder.

As a result of the investigation, Gable was charged with Terroristic Threats and Acts, as well as Criminal Attempt to Commit a Felony (Murder). He was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Carroll County Jail without bond.

The two juveniles involved in the plot, aged 15 and 13, remain unnamed due to their age. While the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the pair also face charges, they were not detained by the Department of Juvenile Justice at this time.

Authorities moved quickly to ensure the safety of students and staff, conducting a search of Gable’s property and notifying the families of all involved students. School officials, alongside the Sheriff’s Office, have assured the public that every threat is taken seriously and addressed immediately to protect the well-being of everyone in the district.

“We take every potential threat seriously, and our response demonstrates our unwavering commitment to student safety,” said Glen Harding, Assistant Superintendent of Support Services for Carroll County Schools.

As the investigation continues, school officials and law enforcement encourage parents, students, and staff to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior. The authorities have emphasized their dedication to maintaining a secure learning environment for all students, stressing the importance of community involvement in preventing violence.

Additional details on the case are expected as the investigation progresses.
