Augusta, GA – A man is dead following a shooting in Augusta on Saturday evening.

At approximately 6:10 p.m., deputies from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a gunshot victim in the 1900 block of Cooney Circle. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound to the neck.

The victim, later identified as 32-year-old James Wise of Augusta, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The Richmond County Coroner’s Office confirmed his identity and announced that an autopsy would be scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.

As of now, no suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the shooting. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has launched an ongoing investigation into the incident.
