Augusta Man Injured, Robbed While Attempting to Break Up Teen Fight

Augusta,  GA — An Augusta man was injured and robbed on the evening of January 14 after trying to break up a fight involving several teenagers, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the 2000 block of Clark Street around 6:30 p.m. following reports of a possible shooting. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a male victim lying in the roadway with what appeared to be a head injury.

Witnesses told authorities that the victim, whose name has not been released, was attempting to intervene in a confrontation involving five to eight teenagers. During the altercation, the man fell to the ground, and although a firearm was reportedly seen, no gunshots were heard.

After the fall, the teens allegedly went through the victim’s pockets and belongings before fleeing the scene, leaving the man injured on the ground.

The victim was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, though authorities did not release any information on the severity of his injuries.

The incident is currently under investigation as a robbery by force. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has not disclosed further details about the suspects involved or any potential leads in the case.
