Tyrone Gaynor Jr. Arrested for Stalking at Diamond Lakes Walking Track

HEPHZIBAH, Ga. – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Tyrone Gaynor Jr. in connection with multiple reports of suspicious behavior at the Diamond Lakes Regional Park walking track. Gaynor, who was taken into custody on Wednesday, faces charges of misdemeanor stalking after several women came forward alleging that he followed them at an uncomfortable distance while they were walking or running.

One of the women, Sabrina Sanchez, who frequents the park at least three times a week, shared her concerns about the incident. Sanchez said she will now take extra precautions, ensuring she is never alone when walking at the track. “I made it a point not to come by myself, I made it a point to bring Grace with me as well as other means of protection. It’s daytime, I make it a point not to walk at night by myself,” she explained. Sanchez noted that although she typically feels safe during the day, she will now be more vigilant about her surroundings.

Another regular at the park, Rose Arthur, also expressed her commitment to safety but emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive attitude toward outdoor activities. “I know that Diamond Lake is safe, it’s a safe place to walk, especially for our senior citizens and anyone who wants to better their health,” Arthur said. She encouraged others to continue utilizing the park, noting that greater foot traffic could help create a safer environment.

Gaynor’s arrest follows a prior incident in Aiken in August 2023, where he was charged with second-degree assault and battery. That case remains pending, and he has yet to stand trial. Despite the arrest, local walkers remain confident in the safety of the park, especially with the increased presence of law enforcement in the area.

Sanchez expressed her gratitude for the Richmond County Sheriff’s Department’s efforts to address the issue. “I do appreciate Richmond County Sheriff’s Department, they’re being really vigilant about being out here. I see them out here more, and that’s really good,” she said, acknowledging the department’s role in swiftly identifying and arresting the suspect.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the matter and urges anyone who believes they may have been followed or harassed to come forward. The Criminal Investigations Division has asked individuals with information to contact the department via Facebook, email, or by calling the division directly.

Authorities continue to encourage residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as they work to ensure the safety of the public.
