Search Underway for Man Accused of Luring Children in Screven County

Sylvania, GA – Authorities in Screven County are searching for a man accused of attempting to entice children into his vehicle with candy. The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday, when Bobby Roberts allegedly approached a group of children and offered them sweets to get inside his car.

According to the Screven County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the scene and made contact with Roberts’ vehicle. However, the suspect fled before law enforcement could make an arrest. Authorities later located Roberts’ vehicle, which had become stuck in the mud in a wooded area. Despite efforts to locate him, Roberts managed to escape on foot.

Deputies believe Roberts was last seen in the vicinity of Water Oak Road. Fortunately, the children involved in the encounter were unharmed and are safely back at home.

The Screven County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information about Roberts’ whereabouts to come forward. Residents are asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 912-564-2013 if they have any details that could assist in the search.
