Second Arrest Made in Augusta Smoke Shop Robbery and Murder Case

Augusta, Ga. – A second individual has been arrested in connection with a robbery and fatal shooting that occurred at a smoke shop in Augusta, Georgia, on January 10. Antwan Herndon, a resident of Waynesboro, turned himself in to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday evening. Officials stated that Herndon provided sufficient information during questioning that led to charges being filed against him for his role in the robbery and murder of a store employee.

The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. at a smoke shop located at 2303 Lumpkin Road. A store employee was shot during the robbery and later died from their injuries at a local hospital the following Saturday morning. Investigators with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office traveled to Burke County to question Herndon, who is now awaiting extradition back to Augusta to face charges.

Terrance Walker, the first suspect arrested in the case, was taken into custody on the night of the crime. Walker has been charged with felony aggravated assault, felony armed robbery, and felony possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. However, law enforcement officials noted that Walker has not been cooperative in providing information about the involvement of the other suspects.

The third suspect, identified as Terry McClennon, remains at large. Authorities are urging anyone with information about McClennon’s whereabouts to contact the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation into the robbery and shooting is ongoing as authorities work to bring all involved parties to justice.
